Summary:
The presentation will cover an overview of VEMA’s role and highlights of their work toward public preparedness and community resilience.
BIO:
Miranda has been with the City of Vancouver since 2020. Miranda’s role at the City includes public education, risk communication, emergency support services and planning for community impacts for hazards. Prior to joining the City, Miranda worked in various roles with emergency management including with Simon Fraser University and Emergency Management BC with a focus on regional emergency management in the Metro Vancouver Region. In this role Miranda was part of the response to several provincial emergencies including the 2017 wildfires, 2018 flooding and wildfires, 2019 natural gas shortage. Miranda continues to be involved with the ShakeOutBC Organizing Committee and BC Earthquake Alliance.
