DESCRIPTION:How Will You Manage Without Plumbing After a Disaster?\nDunbar Earthquake and Emergency Preparedness (DEEP) invites you to a 1.5-hour workshop on an important\, yet often overlooked\, aspect of disaster preparedness—creating a safe and effective waste management system when plumbing fails. \n📅 Date: Saturday\, March 22\, 2025\n⏰ Time: 10:00 AM\n📍 Location: Dunbar Community Centre (Room 202)\, 4747 Dunbar Street\n👥 In-Person Only – Limited to 40 Participants \nA major earthquake\, such as a Cascadia Subduction Zone event\, could severely damage water and sewer systems\, leaving communities without toilets\, sinks\, and plumbing for weeks\, months\, or even years. This workshop tackles the practical and necessary steps to managing waste safely and hygienically when regular systems are down. \nWhat You’ll Learn: \n✅ How to set up a sanitation plan for your home and neighbourhood\n✅ Easy-to-find materials for safe waste disposal and handwashing stations\n✅ How to create a backup system now so you’re prepared if disaster strikes \nThis workshop will equip you with practical skills to maintain hygiene and keep your household and community safe. \nRegistration is required – only 40 spots are available.
